I can't believe this is our last full day on the island. I have sooo fallen in love with this place and her people. I feel so blessed to have been a small part of this little piece of heaven.
I had my usual early AM...up to the roof (sing along with me! lol) with my coffee cup in one hand and the coffee pot in the other. Finally got where I don't have to take a deep breath and hold it to go up all the winding steps! Definitely confronted my height issues this trip! lol The view is magnificent. I visit with friends and have my requisite coffee. We decide to head back to M&J's for breakfast. I just love their cazuelas! MMMMMMM
The group I'm traveling with has decided to do a gift exchange for the Winter Solstice (since H and I won't be here for Christmas). We had a $10 limit for gifts. It was so funny trying to make the shop owners understand that we COULDN'T spend more than $10!! I don't think they ever did get what we were trying to say! LOL I had drawn Emma's name and had absolutely no clue what to get her. We had met several times, but don't really know each other. H helped me, and we found a beautiful carved bone "E" that H put on an adjustable cord to make a necklace. Now that shopping was done, we could change and head to the beach. Didn't want to miss a minute of fun in the sun!
The beach was beautiful and I had a wonderful day of basking in the sun, reading, and just enjoying the view. This trip has been so amazing. I can't believe we have to leave tomorrow!!! :( We stayed on the beach later again, and this time...I got the colors I was looking for in the sunset. What a great gift for my last night in the island!
We walked back to the apartment, showered, wrapped our gifts and headed upstairs for our Solstice party. Our friends from Washington state made a home-made smoked salmon lasagne. Oh my god was it good!! They had rolled out the lasagne noodles with a wine bottle. No rolling pin available! lol
Our gift exchange was a hoot. Bruce had us all close our eyes while the person who had his gift put it into his hands. (his eyes were closed too) Then he had to open it and guess who had his name. We each did this. It was a lot of fun...especially since some of us just met for the first time when we got to the island. Tom had my name and he got me this beautiful silver/turquoise bracelet with I. Mujeres on it. Just as we finished opening our gifts, fireworks went off from the Plaza. It couldn't have been timed more perfectly! What an amazing way to end the party!!! I tried to get pics, but with the delay on my digital camera, my timing was off.
I'll have to continue the night later...I didn't time this well either and have to get ready for work! LOL
