Isla October 2009 Day 5
Bus Trip to Pirate Mundaca’s Hacienda and Zoo
Note: You have probably noticed there are pictures that feature some old guy with a mustache. This is due to the fact that my wife is the Photographer in the family. You would probably enjoy seeing her in all these pictures but she won’t let me near the camera. Now back to the report.
We start the day with breakfast at Bamboo and walk over to the bus stop behind the Mercado on Guerrero. We take the bus from downtown through La Gloria and get off at Pirate Mundaca’s Hacienda and Zoo ($.25US). The entrance fee was 20 pesos.

The zoo had monkeys, iguanas, ferel pigs, and crocodiles. I read on this site that the local government had seized the animals and moved them. This was probably in the best interest of the animals. My wife commented on the fact that the crocodiles did not have any water and the temperature was really hot.

We spent some time walking around La Gloria, then hopped on the bus and headed toward downtown. We stopped at the Navy Store to check it out and pick up some wine. While we were there, Patty took a picture of the confiscated boats across from the Navy Base.

Back to the hotel for some pool time, however, on the way we stopped at the beer store on Hidalgo and I grabbed a Sol to go. Now this is what I call a bottle of beer.

After we take a siesta, we walk over to Sergio’s for Happy Hour and sunset. There is that couple again, I think they are stalking us.

After the sunset we head to Comono’s for appetizers and salads. The food here was really good and a light change. Long day, so it is off to bed.
