Deb writing this one. Sat. morning and we had breakfast at the hotel. We have never had a bad breakfast buffet before but this one was not good!!. The omelette station was slow and the cook either hard cooked the over light eggs, or they used egg beaters. The pancakes and french toast were pre-made and were hard as cardboard and cold even at 8 a.m. The o.j. was a weak blend of juice and not cold enough and the coffee was always poured as you sat down ,not after you got your food so it was cold till you drank it. There wasnt any bacon, and sausage or ham was available one or the other, but the ham was like minced ham or spam.
Next we headed for the beach. It was a sunny warm day and the beach at the privileges aluxes is nice but not north beach like at the Avalon. The loungers and palapas are great and the bar and bath room amenities are a plus.
We had a boat trip planned for the noon hour. So we went back to our room and got ready for the trip with Lorenzo Sosa. We met up at the gas dock. Lorenzo was very helpful, polite and knowlegable. He told us we couldnt go around the island in his boat as the waves and currents are too rough this time of year. He took us up to the light house to snorkel. I got cramps in my legs as I have been having problems with my legs this year and havent been walking as much. I was going to go back in the boat, but Lorenzo said just hold onto the life preserver and Ill pull you around. He wouldn,t let me kick my legs all day after that. He said that is why he is there. He pointed out each fish and named its english name. He even showed us lobsters in creveses and lion fish that were almost blended in with the coral. Then we went up to the north beach to see that end of the beach all the way down to punta sur. We got so close it was awesome!!! Then we turned and went to manchonies reef and saw the Jesus cross and all of the wonderful undersea wildlife. We saw a black grouper, tiger grouper, parrot fish [the 3 ft ones} a big!!! barracuda, school of midnight parrot fish,4 eyed butterfly fish, queen angels several of them, french angels and gray angel fish. A star fish, wrasses and anenomes. I though I was taking pictures with my waterproof digital camera, when I looked at it and found out that the door never shut right to the battery and the camera was fried!!!
After the snorkeling, we headed to the Lagoon and saw just how big it was. We didnt realize how wide and long that lagoon is. Lorenzo told us that durring hurricanes boats from cozumel come to the lagoon for safety.
We heade back to our end of isla and they left us off just down from our beach. We tipped the mates and thanked them all for an incredible trip.
