Hogfamily cast of characters: Bill the hogdaddy, Michelle the hogmom, she is the one that takes care of the family, she is a most wonderful wife and mother. The hoglets: Joseph 12, Travis 10, Daniel 9, Shane 7, and recently joining our herd, Antonia 10.
Two years ago, the day after we returned from Isla de la Mujeres, we started saving our pennies, my vacation time, and started planning for our next trip to Isla.
Thanks to all that posted their trip reports and Isla updates it helped us make it through the two years until we were able to return.
Our travels included a stop over in Portland Oregon so that we could drive to Northern California to pick up Michelle’s and my niece Antonia. She is half Mexican and speaks Español, is a nice young lady, and fits right in with the hogfamily. She has not traveled much and would have a lot of firsts on our trip.
We spent a week in Northern California, Del Norte County, visiting family and friends that we have not seen for years, showing our boys where I grew up, and of course we had to go to near where some of Star Wars Episode VI “Return of the Jedi” was filmed in the Redwood Forrest.
We started out our adventure with a misadventure when Shane broke his right elbow when he fell off a trampoline three days before we were to leave on our trip. At the emergency room there was talk of possible surgery. The day before we were to leave Shane had an appointment with an orthopedic doctor. Good news no surgery and he would get a waterproof cast.

Michelle packed and repacked our luggage…..

…..the hogboys packed their carry on bags and snorkeling gear….

….and of course Robot.

Robot, as you may recall, is Robot B 9 from the old TV series “Lost in Space”. He is our version of Flat Stanley. Actually Flat Stanley with a little Mr. Bill, (the clay character from Saturday Night Live).
Heading to our departure gate at the Anchorage Airport.
Once again the TSA officers made going through security a breeze.

Oh no, Robot has trouble with the moving sidewalk!

Seasoned travelers.

Hey, how did he get in line first?

We had a non-stop uneventful flight to Portland and an uneventful drive to Northern California.
The hogboys getting to know the newest hoglet Antonia.

We had a mini-family and friend reunion some of which we have not seen for years. Most had not met the hogboys.

I grew up in Klamath California on the Klamath River. I was a river rat, spent much of my young life, “on the river”, swimming, boating, fishing, exploring, etc. It was a wonderful way to grow up.
One of my nieces husband is a fishing guide on the Klamath River and he gave us a boat ride on the river.

This needs no explanation, right ladies?

Next we did a little sight seeing.

No trip to Klamath would be complete without a stop at Trees of Mystery and a visit with Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.

What is that round thing?

Oh, never mind!

TRAVIS! STOP THAT!!!
A stop at Pebble Beach in Crescent City to do some beach combing for agates and sea glass.

Next time: “May the Force be With You!”
