Up early today and headed down to M&J's for breakfast.Ordered the orange-carrot juice again $20 pesos & M&J Cazuela with tomato, mushrooms & cheese $48 pesos.
Then decided to walk down Hildago and take some pictures.I ran into Rob,Joy her daughter and her friend which I never got her name having breakfast at Chili Loco's and stopped to chat.
I then wanted to walk through the Cemetery and look for the Pirate Mundaca's Grave,I know it sounds morbid but the Cemetery was really beautiful. One of the most colorful figures of Isla Mujeres was Fermin Mundaca de Marechaga, a pirate and slave trader. It took some time looking and looking and finally I found it and took some pictures. His gravestone (which he carved) is marked with the symbols of the pirate trade, the skull and cross-bones, and bears the inscription "As you are, I was. As I am, you will be".
Now that I am home I looked on my Mapchick Map and it tells you exactly where the headstone is,Geesh! Oh well it was an adventure and I hope the people don't mind me going in as I didn't want to offend the people of the Island being such the tourist I am taking pictures.
It was really a hot day and even hotter in the Cemetery as there was not a breeze there so I headed back to my spot at the beach in front of Sergio's and spent the day there.
Later met up with Rob at the Stump Bar on the corner of Hildalgo (I never did know the name of that place),then stopped to at Bamboo and then on to Sancocho's to meet up with some other friends.I ordered Shrimp Ceviche (I think it was $70 pesos) with really large shrimp and it was soooo good!Wish I got a picture of that,oh well there is always next year.
With all the sun, heat & cerveza's it really wears you out early so it was off to sleep.
