This was our very first trip to Mexico....We left Calgary on a Sunday at 8am...the hubby surprised me by upgrading us to 1st class for the almost 6 hour flight! As I am not a very good flier...this made the long flight most bearable
We safely arrived in Cancun and almost immediately the humidity nearly bowled me over...WOW...With Mapchick Map in hand we were maneuvering the Cancun Airport like ol pros! The lineup was long but moved quite fast....we pushed the red/green button and we were given the green light....onto the barrage of timeshares and transportation gurus...We had booked USA Transfers to pick us up so we knew exactly who we were looking for once we walked out into the crowd...easy peasy!
Our air conditioned ride was most welcome in that humidity I tell ya...we are NOT accustomed to that...but wed better get use to it...and fast!
We took the UltraMar Ferry (140pesos round trip) over to Isla Mujeres...the ride was about 20 minutes and the water was a blue like I have never seen before...I still cant get over the colors...unbelievable! We docked and caught a taxi to Ixchel beach Hotel right on Playa Notre ( 30pesos)
Our room was In Ixchel II on the 5th floor...and was spacious and cool and the view was incredible...how on earth would we survive such beauty for 7 days?!?!?!
We were so tired from a long day of traveling that we unpacked..headed to the pool and the beach to look around...I had planned that our first meal would be at Sunset Grill since it was just a walk down the beach from us...the clouds were starting to form....rain was on the way...but under the big palapa of the restaurant is was calm and comfortable....live music was being played...the sun was starting to set...albeit with cloud cover...but everything was just as wed hoped...perfect
to be contd.....
