Day 3, 4, 5, 6???? Who knows, Iím on vacation! Iím not suppose to think about stuff like that!
Anyway, Rico has been having problems with his ear ever since landing in Cancun. Went by Farmacia and got some decongestant in hopes it will help clear up whatís going on. Had breakfast at Bucaneros again. ďBeaned up eggsĒ this time.
Decided to try and cheer up the son by renting a golf cart, since he has been itching to since we got here! So off we goooo!!
We found the turtle farm. Hey Homebrew, you are right, they are too cute!
Cruised by Garrafon Park since we are avoiding water till we find out what evil lurks in the ear. Stopped for the obligatory tourist shot though.
Donít know about everyone else, but I donít think my heart could take the zip line thing!
Next was a climb to the top of the lighthouse at Punta Sur. What an incredible view. Also had to have a cerveza and water.
Off to find the Shell House. Quite the architectural design, but a builders nightmare! (Hubby was a carpenter)
As you can see, the son wasnít all that impressed. Actually, he was feeling pretty lousy. Ended up back at the room so he could try to sleep. Brought the walkie talkies, so dad and I went for a walk. Had dinner later at the Miramar down by the ferry. Great food and a great waiter. If you see Osterio (sp?) tell him we were serious about visiting us in Alaska!
Bad night. Rico woke us up crying. He is in some serious pain. At two in the morning there arenít many options except tequila maybe. Nahh canít go there. Heís only 13. Settled for some Motrin and sleeping in momís arms. Next morning off to see the clinic! Hubby says ďDonít worry, all these doctors down here speak English, they have to!Ē Well P.S. no they donít!! Not even the nurses or receptionist speaks English. After lots of pantomiming we go to see a doctor. He spoke a little English, but there was still a lot of pantomiming and mind melding attempts. Very sweet guy though. Once he found out we were from Alaska, he didnít want us to leave!! He sat down and drew a map of North America, and pointed at Alaska and wanted to know where we lived. So yup, we invited him to stop in if he is ever passing through too! Well that was fun, now what? Iím pretty sure that on our first day there when we did our initial recon, I pointed at that clinic and said ďYou see that, letís not go there.Ē Nobody listens to me!
Jax for lunch, since the sick kid wanted a cheeseburger, then back to the room since the painkiller the doc gave him was kicking in. Nighty night! Dad and I sat on the balcony sipping cerveza and did some people watching. Also very entertaining. The drugs seem to be helping Rico as he woke up challenging dad to a game of pool down at Romeys bar. Says since he canít swim in the pool, he wants to play pool! Canít blame him!
Later on we went to Chili Locos and my goodness that stuffed chili pepper is amazing! Their soup is awesome too! I havenít eaten so much in my life! But how can you not, everything is so good!
Up bright and early the next day as the boy is feeling better with the antibiotic, ear drops and pain killers heís a new kid. Penguinos for breakfast and then another walk downtown.
Next, it was back to the golf cart guy and a trip to Zamas Beach Club. Wasnít sure what the drill was, but when we schlepped on out to a beach chair nobody got too excited, so figured we were okay. Hubby finally had to have cerveza, so asked the bartender about the facilities. Said that as long as we drank and ate there, we could use whatever we wanted.
Found this Iguana guarding the swimming pool, so decided to hang out in the lounger for a while until he was finished with it. Enjoyed the peace and quiet and was pretty pleased to have the beach practically to ourselves. Little did we know that there was a giant catamaran headed our way with a bunch of very happy people! Couldnít place the language, but they were definitely from Europe somewhere. It was a good thing that I had warned the 13 year old about the potential topless women, and also probably a good thing that I purchased him the dark sunglasses. We got the biggest kick out of watching the employee who was raking the seaweed on the beach. That guy must figure he has the best job in the world! Sorry guys no pictures of the women for you.
Finally got the place back to ourselves, but the boys kind of liked all the entertainment! Guess it got too tame for them, so headed back to the hotel and a shower. Decided we needed to have dinner on the beach with the sunset.
The sunsets are so beautiful, yet so sad, as it means itís another day closer to leaving this wonderful place. To be continuedÖ. Next episode is Fishing with Geovanny and Berto!
