Texas to Isla-June 2009-Day 7

Date: 3/9/2010

Trip Report Day 7

This morning was the beginning of our last full day amidst the cool blue waters of Isla. We slept in and visited Pingüinos for brunch. Up until this point, Michael had not been able to venture into the water because of his stitches. However, today was day 10 and the great doctors at Seton Hospital had given me permission to remove his stitches. Im not sure whether he liked this idea or whether he was just being a good husband when he let me perform minor surgery in Mexico. (it was totally fun!)

Sans stitches, Michael was ready to hit the open sea. We usually scuba dive, but we had entered the 24 hours til departure no dive window. We scheduled a snorkeling trip with Crystal Divers on Medina and jumped into a boat with Memo. I havent ever really been on a guided snorkel tour. It was enjoyable. The water was cool and we had great visibility. We were the only boat at Manchiones and had the entire park to ourselves. El Farito was a little shallow snorkel park at the point of Sac Bajo that allowed us plenty of sea floor viewing. Overall, it was definitely worth the $25.
We got cleaned up and ventured out to our last sunset at Buhos. It was Daniels night off so we had drinks with Henry instead. Beautiful sunset again. We met another austinite, Jared and he accompanied us to Dinner.

Finally, it was time to head to Olivias. We joined Dede, Hannah and Jared at our favorite restaurant in Isla. My Mayan Fish Filet was magnificent and it made me wish we had one more night here on the island. Kate and I had put usual nightcap at Jax bar and reluctantly left for our last sleep on Isla Mujeres.

We are heading back to Isla twice this Spring. I hope you enjoyed my reports. Stay tuned for more at the end of April (a girls’ trip in March and a wedding in April—should be entertaining!)
