February 14 – March 9
Day 17 Saturday March 1
“A Lazy Day and Welcome To Our New Home”
What a wonderful sleep we have….but I’m still up with the sun!
We have our own scenic rock on this area of the ocean too!...
We truly enjoyed our stay at Villa Makax Townhomes….so much that we have already booked for next year! The owner Steve, is wonderful….one day our AC wasn’t working and he was there with helpers within the hour!
Here’s a little tour…
From the street….we stayed upstairs at ‘Casita William’…the bottom unit is the same and called ‘Casita Peyton’.
The view from our front door…towards the west and the Navy base….great sunset view…
The dining area….
From the corner sofa towards the balcony…
The corner sofa….
The bed was so comfy…
View towards the balcony…
The large balcony…
The amazing view…
The malecon is looking great now!
The kitchen and bathroom are really nice too….no idea why I didn’t get photos of them! The official website is http://www.villamakax.com/ocean.htm
Back to our day….
After a quick breakfast we finish cleaning up from our little fiesta last night. We pack our bag and head to the beach. Vince is very happy today…our brand new moped from Burgos Moped Rental is parked and ready to zoom…
The moped was beautiful, but it was a ‘low rider’…not really meant for 2 people. Every time we went over a tope (speed bump), of which there are many on Isla…Vince would stand up, straddling the moped and ‘walk’ us across it. If he didn’t do that we would bottom out and scrape the bottom of the moped. We didn’t want to pay for any damage, so Vince really got an inner thigh work-out. Guess I should have been doing it instead!
Off to the beach we go, parking at Sergio’s Playa Sol today, where our amigos are gathered. We have a wonderfully relaxing day…much needed after what seems like a very busy holiday so far. It was great just to enjoy some sun and siesta time. Vince had his usual parmesan fish fillet for lunch, so he is having a perfect day!
Late in the afternoon, we take our first of many circle tours of the island…we put on over 200kms over the next 7days! I know a lot of people warn against moped use on Isla, but we have used one every year without incident. We did have a close call with a nasty dog charging us last year. We know we are lucky…if you do rent one, please be careful!
For dinner we ended up at Fredy’s with Jan and Bruce. We’ve never eaten there before but always hear good reviews. My opinion…it was okay….I had beef tacos and Vince had a pork chop. The pork chop was the largest one I’ve ever seen…must have been 3” thick! Only trouble was, it was still very pink in the center….not really too happy about eating undercooked pork. We’re always willing to give a place a second chance, so I’m sure we’ll be back again.
It was quite windy tonight….felt a little cool. Didn’t stop us from enjoying our usual ice cream treat though! We enjoy our walk home to ‘William’…glad to have the extra steps to burn off the calories!
