Here Goes Nothing...or Everything! April 3rd, 2008

Since everyone including me has been lusting for trip reports, here is one Ive always wanted to post. Our first month long visit to Isla Mujeres: This is my first attempt a uploading photos. Get ready...

Fly out of Denver at 7:00 am with our daughter driving us to the airport at 0 dark thirty. Direct flight to Cancun-Green light, all systems go! Best Day transfer @$35 - on the ferry by noon - cervesas in hand.

Loaded down the tricycleta with three suitcases and a guitar to Hotel Bucanero. Room 105 at $65 a night for the next two nights is adequaate with micro and mini fridge, to get our bearings before heading to the south island... In exchange for booking in advance for two nights, I went to claim our tokens for complimentary cocktailes bienviendidos. Stepped out to el Banco to exchange some cash for pesos, then on down the street to Johns favorite tienda across from the ferry dock for a Grande Sol and then on to finally dig our dogs into that soft white powder and walk slowly down to the Sunset Grill for Nachos and Margs. From there we headed down the beach for a dip into the ocean by Buhos and a couple of more happy hour Sols. Talk about happy souls! And as everyone else is, we are in awe of the construction since we were here in Nov. Walked over to the Super Express for room beers and back to the Bucanero for a nap and showers. Tummies rumbling again and eager to try all the places Ive read about on the message boards, we head out to Picus for Grouper Veracruz for John and Shrimp Ceviches for me...yum! Dont forget the Pina Colada and Mango Daquiris to toast our incredible start to this entire month in our Mexican paradise! In island style - tired from a full day yet excited and energized for the month ahead we walked down the pedestrian street Hildalgo, watching the vibrant street scenes with fire acrobats, tourists and shop keepers, fell into that deep sleep we only have here on lovely Isla.
