When I left work mid February 2006, everyone wished me a great vacation. Sure I said I don't speak the language, afraid to eat the food & drink the water & know diddly about the money. What was I thinking?
We were lucky & had two tickets anywhere the airline flew. After listening how wonderful Isla Mujeres was from my hairdresser for 15 years we booked a flight. We read this site a lot & chose Nauti Beach Condos. We'd spent several vacations on Maui & loved the condos there. Then the hurricane hit I couldn't contact anyone. What was I thinking?
After several weeks we were happy to hear all was well & decided to keep our trip plans. We read the horror reports on bad experiences with the food, police & taxis. Oh boy mabey no news is good news. What was I thinking?
We followed advice & had a van waiting with our name held up. After going through the green light & all the people in the airport & outside was a zoo it was a relief to see our name. We had a great ride to the ferry with lots of information about what we were seeing.
The ferry was ready to go so off we went. It was sunset & a group of teen girls were coming back from a day trip. They were laughing & singing & it was fun watching them .My first sight of Isla I knew why everyone loved this place.
We spotted the bank & off my husband went for pecos. When he came back I said watch out for that guy he's watching us. Soon I saw a paper with our name he was there to carry our bags to the condo. So I'm a little leary of strangers.
We were plesantly surprised how nice our condo was. The next morning what a view. We mostly ate at sunset grill. The food was good & we loved the music during happy hour. The heat & walking got the best of us. My favorite day was the golf cart day. The week went fast before we knew it we were back in cold, wet Seattle.
When I got to work everyone wanted to know what I thought about Isla Mujeres. What was I thinking? When can we go back.
