Isla 2009 DAY 2
It is a beautiful morning. We open up the glass doors to the balcony and we hear the sounds of Isla walking up. The furnace from the taco oven in the Mercado fires up with a roar. The voices of the locals preparing for another day of work echoes across the street. Our thoughts for the week are to lay out on the beach daily, read books and chill or is that fry under the Mexican sun. We will head beachside around 10:30 relax until afternoon, return to Plaza Almendros for a little poolside time, maybe a siesta and then sunset and dinner. Sounds like a plan.

We have a complimentary breakfast each morning at Bamboo included in our room rate, however, we really enjoy going to Aluxes Bakery in the morning for imported café and fresh banana bread. They have four flavors; plain, coconut, nut and chocolate chip. What a decision to make.

We finish our treat at Aluxes and walk to the Super Express for some items we forgot yesterday. A short walk on the Malecon (sp?) and start heading to the hotel.

These are a couple of interesting buildings on the walk back to Plaza Almendros. The first is Hemmingway’s Bar. We have not been in because it is one of the last places where the locals visit and they probably get tried of the gringo s at every other spot in town.

This is Manana’s and it is a combination café and used book store. Later in the week we run out of books and reload here.

Time for the beach and it is off to Sergio’s for the day. We ask for Rodger and are told he is on vacation, however, Lionel Richie, will be our host till Monday. He was great.

Back to Plaza Al for some pool time, a siesta and shower before heading over to Jax’s for the sunset and Happy Hour. This is the Fisherman’s Statue in front of Jax’s.

It clouded up at sunset over Cancun but just cooled it down in Isla.

Great looking couple on the second floor deck at Jax’s enjoying the sunset.

After the sunset we head to Adelita Tequila bar and have some beverages with some great Reposados. Meet some great folks from Ohio, hung out awhile and headed for bed.
