This trip has been a long time in the making. I have wanted to bring my Mom and Dad to isla for years and everytime I ask my Mom, "what are you doing "X" week of this month" she knows it will be followed by "Do you want to go to Mexico with me?" Finally this Oct. she answered with the correct answer of "yes"! Dad decided he would wait till winter so I asked all four of my sisters...but only one was able to get away. The plan was set, Mom, Diane and I would go for a five day trip at the end of Oct. Next step was deciding where I would stay with them. I have stayed at many different places in a wide range of prices and loved them all, but I wanted to make sure that it would be the right place as this would be Mom and Dianes first time to isla. I also wanted a place where Mom would sleep well and in our "down time" would be comfortable for just hanging out. Finally I decided on Ixchel Condos. I had stayed there last Feb with a couple girlfriends and knew the place and it seemed to fit the bill of everything we wanted. Decided to stay in the same unit as last time (403/404) and logged onto the website (islamujeresbeachcondo.com) and hoped our days were available. As luck would have it they were!! The trip was meant to be.
We used USA transportation (usa-transfer.com) to get to the ferry from the airport and had one of the most friendly drivers ever. It made the trip go fast and in no time we were at the ferry dock ordering our first cervesa!!

I have been on the ferry 30+ times and have never had it rain on the crossing, I guess there is a first time for everything!!! While waiting we had a downpour unlike anything I have ever experienced, looked like it was going to be and inside ride over! While waiting in line we had the pleasure of a couple young guys from England who had enjoyed a few (ok they said about eight hours worth) drinks before boarding. They had a great sense of humor and for the duration of our trip whenever we would have a few we would say we were feeling " a little english".
As luck would have it the showers had stopped by the time we hit isla and we made our way down to Ixchel to get refreshed before going out to explore. It was great walking back into the condo and I felt like at any minute Julie and Denisa (girls from last trip) should pop out of the kitchen and offer me a coffee with Baileys!! After a quick change we decided to walk around town and make trip to the grocery store for a few supplies. The path along the carribean had really turned out nice.
It had been a long long day of travel so we decided to call it a day early and just kicked back and rest up for our first full day.
