Isla Mujeres Trip Report 2005
Friday 5-13-2005 Day 4
Kind of a slow day today, maybe too much sun on Thursday.. We were up at 7:45, had breakfast at Chile Locos, everything was pretty good 3 of us had eggs w/ potatoes and I had choza sausage with mine. There wasn’t much sausage but it added a good flavor to the breakfast, Mary had the apple crepes w/ sugar and cinnamon she said it was very good. As we were eating it dawned on us that it was Friday the 13th, everyone agreed NO BAD LUCK ON ISLA! Jax had some problems though and were closed, the sign said they would be open at mid-day (as we all know that did not happen). We went for a walk around Playa Norte and around to the start of the sea wall. We then stopped at a shop near Posada and we made the first sale of the day for him, we just kept getting deals and buying. We got 2 ceramic plates, a wall hanging and a fish bone statue I think we spent 550 pesos for it all, a pretty good bargain. We walked to the beach for some shade and some guacamole and an order of onion rings at the Sunset Grill for lunch, we really like the cucumber sauce for the onion rings. The afternoon was laid back we sat around the hotel pool and read some and met a young guy and his girlfriend, they were from New Zealand and have been traveling since January. They started in Canada and the US east coast, then headed to Colorado to snowboard. After shipping winter gear back they hit the US west coast, then to Mexico, from there they were going to head to South America then to Europe. Hoping to finish up in Thailand around Christmas time. Quite an ambitious travel year. We decided to get ready to head for dinner, we ate at Fredy’s, the food was excellent and Fredy was a kick. Dave and Julie had the grilled snapper it was verrrry good and a lot to eat. Pam had the shrimp fajitas she said the shrimp was good but she didn’t feel like eating the onions and beans. Mary had the enchiladas she liked them very much. We headed to Playa Norte for the sunset, it started out great but once again the clouds were heavy on the horizon so it lost its luster, maybe tomorrow.. Pam had a shake at Crepy Crepes it was like chocolate milk, we are spoiled with our choices for shakes and malts at home. Oh well live and learn. We stopped back at the Posad del Mar Bar and had a drink and talked to our AMIGOS Miguel and Romeo. We then called it a night.
