Trip report - THURSDAY 4/5

Date: 4/8/2007

Thursday – we try Castillo Garrafon for more snorkeling… Jeff heads out for about 30 min. to check things out before taking Kenyon in; during this time another little girl gets stung by a jellyfish. There are dozens everywhere. We decide to not take the little one in the water, afraid it would ruin her for snorkeling. I've been stung - granted it was New Jersey where the jellyfish have 3 heads, but it hurts! Head to Zama – no go, closed for a private function. Bummer! Off to Playa Sol. Great beach day, bad service. Gabby is a very friendly guy, but when I ask for a menu at 1:30 and the order is not taking till almost an hour later – just not what we’d experienced in past visits. Siesta back at the room, we have a drink at the “tree stump” place (Arani – something) love the atmosphere and Pepe our young server was wonderful. Starting to rain, so Jeff heads back for the umbrella – Kenyon and I seek refuge at Amigos for a quick drink. We have dinner at the Mayan Lounge, fabulous steak, great burger, coconut shrimp for Jeff. All good and great service. Another bar with a great vibe – I hope they can make it in that location, it was pretty empty…
