Isla Mujeres Trip Report 2005
Saturday 5-13-2005 Day 5
We ate breakfast at French Bistro eggs and bacon for me omelettes for Julie and Mary and Pam had French Toast all very good, and the service was excellent. We decided to head for the sun at Playa Norte again today, there was a lot of seaweed that had washed up overnight so we were quite a ways up the beach towards the Avalon. We Found were a lot of the sand from the beach went after the hurricane, we could sit in the water and it was still only chest deep and we were 30-40 yards from shore. Julie and I were floating on our air mattress and some young local children who were swimming asked if they could try one. They were having such a fun time and giggling playing on it we told them they could keep it. We headed back to the hotel at 1:00pm and cleaned up. We had lunch at El Poc Chuc, we had 4 sodas 2 orders of guacamole, 2 orders of coconut shrimp, a grouper fish filet sandwich and I had archerra all was very good and the bill was only 350 peso. The girls wanted to check out some of the smaller shops not yet looked at so I went back to the Posada had a beer chatted a bit with Romeo and read some, while at the pool I met a group from Madison there. They were on Isla for a wedding. After talking for a while I found out I worked with the one girls uncle, it is amazing what a small world it can be some times. We had planned on taking our daughter out for some of the night life,( I guess tonight is the night) We went to Playa Norte for the sunset it was better than last couple of nights but still a lot of clouds, maybe Sunday. We ate dinner at Fayne’s Pam had a very good chicken cordon blue, Mary had beef fajitas which she said were quite good and a lot to eat. Julie and I had the coconut shrimp it was not very warm, I do like the mango dipping sauce though. We dropped Grandma off at the hotel and headed downtown. We stopped for drinks at Don Chepo’s the girls drinks (sex on the beach) were very tasty and the prices are very reasonable. We then headed to the town square and checked out the waves and enjoyed the breeze. Stopped at La Pena for more drinks, ordered rum and cokes the rum must have been a citrus rum and the drinks were very good. 75 peso for a round is not to bad either. The group from Madison we had met earlier came in about 12:30 so we had a couple of drinks with them and swapped stories til after 1:30. Real wimpy party animals :) We decided to call it a night and walked back to Posada. End of another great day on Isla!
