The Jones Gang, aka hogfamily, 2010 Isla de la Mujeres Adventures # 21 CONTOY!
Isla Contoy: Episodio dos – the invasion continues!
One of the Isla Contoy locals.
Almost every day Samantha the Stingray shows up for lunch. She is very gentle, will eat out of your hand, and let you pet her. As long as you are nice she won’t sting you. Tony has told us he had never heard of her stinging anyone.
Lunch was GREAT. Every thing was fresh made; Guacamole and salsa with chips, Pico de gallo, seafood ceviche, tortillas, rice and beans, coleslaw, awesome grilled fresh fish, and grilled chicken. Fresh watermelon, mango, papaya, strawberries and bananas for desert and snacks. Water, soda, and cerveza, all ice cold, to drink. YUM-O TIMES TEN!!!
The iguanas and hermit crabs show up for lunch.
Samantha comes back for the leftovers from lunch.
UH-OH! What’s Robot up to?
“DANGER WILL ROBERTSON!”
All too soon it was time to load up and head back to Isla de la Mujeres.
If you have the time a trip to Isla Contoy is a must do. You can’t go wrong going with Captain Tony or his brother and nephew.
One the way out to Contoy we had the option of stopping to snorkel at a reef that is close to Isla Contoy. We made the stop when we went two years ago and it was enjoyable. It was suggested by Alberto and Noe that we get to Contoy early before the boats get there from Cancun, (the sea was also a little rough), as it can get crowded. They were right, except for the Parque de Policía and the staff that live there we had Contoy all to ourselves for about three hours. Four boat loads from Cancun came just after we ate lunch. They mostly stayed on the north side of the dock, (we were on the south side), until Samantha returned. Then here they came, despite the advice from their guides, they all started swarming Samantha and chasing her until she left. About half an hour later she snuck back and we had about another half hour with her before she left again. This time the crowd did not see her so we had her all to ourselves again.
The trip back was a little rough, the waves were kind of big. We had a blast jumping over the waves. I’m not sure who was having the most fun us or Alberto and Noe.
They offered to stop at El Farito Snorkeling Park, so that we could snorkel for a while, we declined as it was getting late and we had a date at Miguel’s Moonlight for dinner that evening.
When we got back to Tony’s house he said that he owed us a snorkeling trip. We said that we may not make it this trip. He said that was ok, we would just have to return to Isla to take the trip at a later time. Gee, I think we could do that!
Dinner at Miguel’s.
Two for one!
OH NO, I hope those are virgin margaritas!
DANGER WILL ROBERTSON!
Gregorio joined us for dinner and entertained us. I bought a CD of his music and singing from him. He is world class. If you get a chance get his CD. We listen to it often, his voice is amazing!
Miguel gets some help fixing his amplifier.
We were privileged to share dinner with Catz and Bob, Cyndi and Roaul, and got to meet Beck, (Life’s a Beach)!
WE LOVE MIGUEL’S!!!
