Isla 2011 - Day 8 & 9

By: JoeRocket2 (View Profile)
Date: 4/2/2011

Saturday morning, we are back to the French Bistro for breakfast. Butch, Kay and Joe have their usual choices and I am craving the apple crepes. I usually like eggs in the morning, but their apple crepes are very light and not too sweet…I always try to have them once during our vacation.

Later in the afternoon, Butch and Kay want to go for a ride in the cart so the four of us head out and cruise around. After a while, we are all starting to get hungry and we decide to stop at Soggy Peso for lunch. The special today is coconut shrimp with mango salsa, Kay and I decide to split an order...they are quite large and really good! Butch and Joe are not really hungry for shrimp, so we stop in Kash Keken Chuc and they split a ¼ kilo of poc chuc.

For dinner that night we eat at Brisa Mexicana, Butch gets the rib eye steak, Joe orders the arrachera steak, Kay tries the chicken fajitas and I get arrachera fajitas. We all love our choices!! After dinner we bring Butch and Kay back to the hotel, and then Joe and I head over to Miguels. This turns out to be a very fun night to be at Miguels… by the time we get there, Alfredo, the bass player in the band, is already very drunk and his antics are causing a headache for his brother/band mate. There is also an interesting street performer that dances on a wooden platform he lays down in the middle of the restaurant …we have an excitement filled end to day 8!

Sunday morning finds us back at the French Bistro (I believe it was Chicago Deli and Pancake Houses one day to be closed). Butch wanted to try something different and ordered the banana crepe and French toast combo and the rest of us had our usual orders.

Later on the way out to dinner, we get a couple descent shots of the sunset. We are heading back to La Gloria colony tonight to eat at La Bruja. We all order the breaded grouper…as usual it is excellent!! On the way back to town, we drive by Milagros pizza and everyone thinks they have enough room to try the infamous garlic knots. We get one order to share and they are very tasty!! We end day 9 with a couple drinks at Brisa Mexicana, while watching this evenings performance from the fire dancers.
