Isla Mujeres 2006

Day 20 – March 12 Part 1

“Let’s Take A Walk On The East Side!”

Only a few mornings left in this paradise so I’m not about to miss one now…and I am not disappointed….

Ahhhhh…..what a GREAT way to start the day!

The sun is shining on every spot this morning…

From our balcony I can practically see the sun rising on Cancun as well….

“Hey Vince…isn’t it a good day for a walk!” I hear a moan as he rolls over, but with a little shoving and a promise for ‘later’, he joins me for an early morning tour. Let’s start with the awesome view right from our room….

The Roca Mar pool area….a very quiet, relaxing spot anytime of day…

We tiptoe down the stairs, taking in a closer view of the pool area….

I really don’t think we could ever stay anywhere else!....

The streets in front of the Roca Mar….

As our walk begins, we pass by M & J Cazuela’s and find Pedro already hard at work….

The back side of the church near Roca Mar….

La Peña nightclub….

Looking back towards the Roca Mar and M & J’s….

The church and zocalo….

Zocalo….the gathering spot for all….

The Super Express…

A side street by the lavanderia….

We make our way to the ocean on the east side where the storms of the past year have caused damage to the malecon. They are hard at work strengthening the sea wall using wire cages filled with rocks…

Looking north…

Looking south…

Hopefully this will prevent further damage to the sea wall…

There is a scenic little cove near Playa Media Luna…

I find a ‘coconut face’…

And another lonely coconut shell waiting to be washed away…

The beach turns rocky…

Waves crash along the shoreline…

Can you see the birds?....

We round the corner and northern tip of Playa Norte comes into view…

The beach in front of Na Balam has disappeared in the past year…Mother Nature is constantly adjusting the sand…

Perfect spot for a siesta…

Playa Norte…

Looking towards Maria del Mar and Buho’s…

And the new condos….hmmmm….

Chairs are waiting for us…

What a view to gaze upon…

Vince, capturing the moment on our video camera…great to watch during those cold winter nights!...

The beach is calling so we continue walking in the sand that is always cool beneath our feet…

Past our favourite shade-maker….the unused lifeguard tower…

It was the perfect early morning tour…. …

…to be continued…
