Three Nanooks go to Mexico! Part I

Left Interior Alaska and the lovely 40 below zero weather on January 12, driving 5 hours in a blizzard to get to the Anchorage airport (why do I live here?). Flight crew was late, so it delayed takeoff by an hour. So left Anchorage at 3:00 AM on the 13th. Shortened the layover in Seattle, so all was well. Landed in Cancun at 5:00 PM and at this point with all the time changes, it feels like we have been traveling for 2 days! Walked off the plane to get on little bus to get to immigration and all three of us were bowled over by the heat! But I had threatened both my boys before we left if either one of them uttered the words "It's too hot" I'd choke them! Got the green light at customs, and faced the gauntlet of sales people and taxi drivers. Yikes!

Found our driver from Cancun valet, and can't say enough about what great service they offer. The driver was friendly and very funny. I will say this, these drivers, including cabs, would fit right in in New York City! Fast and close! Eeeek!!

Got to the ferry just in time to miss it. Didn't mind the wait, as the feel and smell of the warm breeze felt like heaven. My son commented while we waited on how soft his skin on his face suddenly felt. Because it was dark when we got there and we were dead on our feet, we had no idea what the island was really like. We checked into the Posada del Mar and then headed down to Penguinos for comida and cervesa. Hubby and I had a celebratory Margarita while son had a virgin Pina Colada. We toasted our arrival and couldn't wait to see whether Isla lived up to our expectations.

What a delightfull surprise! We were in paradise! Pinch pinch, yup, I'm really here! Had coffee at Aluxes and went to Bucaneros for breakfast.

Decided to do a little recon mission and take in the sights, sounds and smells of the island and get oriented before hitting the pool.

Back to Posada and the Pool! Practically had the whole place to ourselves. Got to meet the world famous Romey. What a character!

Hubby was still suffering from jet lag. We got back to the room and the bed attacked him! He was a goner! Me and the kid were to excited so we took a stroll on North Beach and wandered around downtown some more.

Worked up an appetite from all our exploring so we split a little pizza at Rolandis. It was excellent! Wandered some more, then hit the hay so we good do it again tomorrow!
