Thank you all for the kind words.
Laura, thank you for your great map. We had it wore out before we left Alaska. I had most of it memorized. I impressed my wife several times when we would go to a restaurant, beach, shop, etc. and I would go right to it WITHOUT asking for directions.
Modeville, Sara is the VP candidate from Alaska. Sara is very popular in Alaska and politics aside she is a very nice person. Yes my wife is amazing. She takes great care of all us boys. She is really outnumbered even our dog is a boy; I would guess that the frog and both fish are boys too.
Sandia, The boys wanted to try their snorkeling gear in the snow and in the bath tub.
Our dog Noah. As you can see he is as spoiled as the rest of the Jones boys.
For about the first two weeks on Isla most of our daily routine was to get up in the morning eat breakfast either at our room or a restaurant, go to the beach, eat lunch, swim in the pool, and then get ready for the evening. Then we would go to dinner at about 7-8pm. After dinner we would walk all around downtown, look in the shops, get ice cream at Cool, and visit with the locals that were out. We spent a lot of time by the fountain just hanging out soaking up Isla.
First day at the beach. We found out that the saying that Alaskans donĺt tan, they thaw, is only partly correctů. We thaw then burn.
Now our boys know what a real beach is.
We went to North Beach for several days until a local told us about the beach on the right side of the bridge to Avalon. This beach was perfect for us. Not crowded except on Sunday, local family fun day. That was our favorite day. Lots of playmates and Spanish lessons.
With apologies to all the other fine hotels on Isla; we loved Plaza Almendros. For our family it was perfect. The staff was the best. They took such good care of us and were extremely kind and patient with our family. They helped us with our Spanish, and treated our boys well. We also met a lot of vacationing families from Mexico and around the world. More instant playmates and Spanish lessons.
View of the pool from our room.
Alexia y Geovannyĺs
Alexia y Geovannyĺs One of our favorite places to have breakfast.
Sancochoĺs Great lunches and dinners. I really liked the dark rum sauce on fresh fish. We also liked the fish fingers. The first time one of the boys ordered fish fingers I was thinking fish sticks and tried to talk him out of it. Iĺm glad that he didnĺt listen to me. (Did I say that?) They are not fish sticks.
They are made from fresh fish and are great. The ones at Bamboo are tempura batter, wow.
The rib guy.
And girl, and boy. What can we say about the rib guy that has not already been said? We were there every Sunday.
The Band (and Mario) at Marinos. They played ôBorn to be Wildö for our boys; one of their favorite songs.
After a long day swimming at the beach and the pool, taking a walk after dinner, staying up late listening to the live bands, a stop at Cool for ice cream, it didnĺt take long for the boys to fall asleep. Then Mom and Dad had quiet time, and a Sol, or Margarita on the patio.
