Thursday morning its back to French Bistro for the usual breakfast. Later, Joe and I cruise around on the cart for a while stopping to walk the beach and take some cool pictures by the ferry.
We decide today would be a good day to look around stores downtown and stop at Fire Opal, Ricardo has some of the most unique and beautiful jewelry on the island. My favorite stone is butterfly opal in a blue/green color, I find an incredible silver sun and moon pendant with a round inset of butterfly opal…it is gorgeous. Since it is Joe’s birthday today, I want to come back another day to buy it. Joe is worried that it might be gone by then, so we end up buying it…he is such a great guy! We also pick up our 2011 buttons, courtesy of Marianne. We are very grateful that she provides these to the board members, and have looked forward to getting them each year.
Joe selects La Bruja for his birthday dinner (since he loved the breaded grouper) so we head down there after a few drinks…only to find that this is the one night they are closed! Since we are already down in La Gloria Colony, we decide it would be a good night to try Bastos Grill. Butch and Kay order the arrachera fajitas, Joe gets an arrachera steak and I get Fettuccini Carbonara. They all prefer the seasoning on the arrachera steak at Brisa Mexicana a little better, but I love my pasta.
Later that night, Joe and I head into Miguels and watch the band for a while and celebrate his birthday. We end day 6 right…with a late night Bimbo dog!
