Some of the food that was enjoyed most was at Qubano’s (Cuban sandwich, chicken tostone, Vivian’s salad), Mango Café (eggs benedict, stuffed poblano pepper, breakfast empanadas, French toast), Cazuela M&J (Mexicana cazuela) , El Pueblito (coconut shrimp w/ mango sauce, chicken shish kebabs and in my opinion, the best guacamole), Bucanero’s and Angelo’s. We also tried Brisa’s, Jax’s, Alexia Giovanni and probably some others I’m not remembering. A couple of places we were not impressed with at all were Sunset Grill and Rolandi’s. Nothing major occurred at Sunset Grill, but it was our most expensive meal of the week and nothing stood out at us, we ate much better food, for much cheaper throughout the week. The waiter at Rolandi’s was downright rude and the pizza was not good at all. Of course, I’m from Chicago – so I think we’ll stick to ordering pizza in Chicago, not Mexico. However I still gave over a 20% tip and he completely snubbed us. Handed him the pesos and said gracias – he said nothing and walked away – opened the black thing (where you put the money with the check) and he slammed it closed and snubbed us – couldn’t believe it, I’ve never experienced that before. A few places I wanted to try were Olivia’s (which was closed for June) and Fredy’s who was closed every night we walked past except for Friday night when we had already eaten dinner. Oh well, next time!
We shopped at the grocery store and grilled out 1 night. For less than $20 usd we bought rib eye steaks, baked potatoes, beverages and a few other little things.
Loved the gelato from Cool – coconut was my favorite. The banana nut muffins and brownies from Aluxes Bakery were delicious and the best margarita I had all week was at Zama’s – a mango margarita. I could have stayed there all day and drank those, however no 2 x 1 specials here, I think 65 pesos each?
