Isla Newbies - Isla in May - Day One

Arrived at Cancun Airport, got our luggage & a green light. Stopped to ask an airport hospitality worker where we could find Best Day, he took us aside into a small room, told us where to find Best Day & then went into what was eventually an Avalon time share pitch. We said we had to go and walked away. Walked outside to find alot of people holding signs up for their passengers, found Best Day, gave them our voucher and in about 15 minutes we were in a private car heading to Grand Puerto to catch the ferry.
The ride over on the Ultamar ferry was very nice. The water was so blue and we saw a school of fish jumping out of the water!
Once on Isla Mujeres we ask a security looking man where the Posada del Mar hotel is, he told us five blocks down, did we need a taxi or did we want to walk with the luggage on a bicycle? We said we would use the bicycle man, so off we went!
Once at Posada del Mar we were given a room on the second floor of the main section. The room was clean, quiet with two twin beds, tv, AC & a balcony that looked toward the ocean. We soon headed down to the bar, it was happy hour! At the bar there were two spanish men with guitars singing. They were excellent! I was so happy to hear live spanish music, I gave them a tip for there generosity in sharing their talent.
After drinks we went looking for some dinner since we had'nt eaten since the early morning. We wanted to try Jax's burgers, but they were closed due to a labor dispute or something like that. The owners said they would reopen on Monday. We headed down the beach and stopped at the first bar that had some life to it, of course it was Playa Sol! Happy hour was still going on! We ordered a cheese burger for hubby and quesadias(?) for myself. The food was fine, especially if your hungry! Had to wait a long time for the bill after we had asked for it. The sunset went down behind the clouds. :(
After dinner we walked down to Hildago to just browse and get some fresh air, then off to the hotel for a good nights rest.

Ultimar Ferry - very nice, clean, friendly...tip the luggage guy if he helps you, he'll ask for the tip if you forget!
Posada del Mar - Nice hotel, centrally located, nice bar and pool.
Playa Sol - Good place to see the sunset and people watch. Good drinks, decent food, OK service, toilet seats!
Hildago Ave. - Busy street with lots of people trying to get you to go into their store. Time share people everywhere...just say no thank you and keep on walking.
