"May the Force be With You"
The hogboys are Star Wars fans, (duh); they all have their favorite characters. One character that we were missing is Princess Leia.
This is Stout Grove. It is part of Jedediah Smith State Park. We are near where Star Wars “Return of the Jedi” was filmed.

OH NO!!! IT’S JABBA THE SLUG!!!

The next photos are from the Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park.

Antonia’s 10th birthday party!

My younger brother.

After a long night drive to Portland.

Breakfast with family and friends in Portland before we catch our flight to Dallas.

We had an overnight in Dallas.
Next time: To Isla de la Mujeres!!!
(For some reason # 3 was deleted from the list so I added it here).
The Jones Gang, aka hogfamily, 2010 Isla Mujeres Adventures #3
We left from Portland at about 3:00pm.
Waiting for our short flight from Portland to Seattle.

Antonia’s first airplane ride.

Layover picnic at the Seattle Airport.

On our way to Dallas.

We arrived in Dallas at about 11:30pm. By the time we got settled in for bed it was about 2:00am. Then we had an early wake up to catch our flight to Cancun.
In Dallas we picked up Aunt Sue. Now we are three adults and five kids!
Waiting to check in at Sun Country Airlines for our flight to Cancun.

The flight to Cancun was uneventful. The hoglets slept most of the way.
The line through immigrations took about an hour, not too long considering that the lines were backed up to the stairs coming down from the gates.
The line through baggage and customs was long but went quickly.
When it was out turn to have our bags checked we had several customs officers help us, about five or so, they were very friendly, patient and helpful. When it was our turn to do “red light green light” we had about 10 officers watching me press ...THE button…….the lady officer at the button crossed her fingers……..I…… s l o w l y……..went for the button………...all eyes were on my finger….….everyone held their breath……..... ……GREEN LIGHT!!!..... A cheer went up from the growing crowd of officers waiting for me to push the button.
We had a total of nine bags and about 15 carry on items.
Then it was past the time share / taxi / whatever they were selling gauntlet.
USA Transfers was waiting for us outside.

Load-um-up-move-um-out!
To the ferry and we are almost there!

We could not believe the number of boats with snorkelers, (is that a word?) that were at El Farito.

Almost there…

….almost there….

I forgot to mention that the day we arrived on Isla was Michelle’s birthday.
While we were waiting for our ride to Casa Porlamar there was a political rally parade. I tried to convince Michelle that it was her birthday parade that I set up for her arrival on Isla. (She didn’t buy it).

The view from the front porch at Casa Porlamar….yeah….we can get used to this!!!

I would like to thank Kathryn, (Kathryn’s Travel), for getting us our flights from Dallas to Cancun and return when Alaska Airlines left us high and dry when they canceled their Cancun flights. A quick email from us is all it took for her to go into action. She also arranged the transfers on USA Transfers from the airport to ferry and back, and made our reservations at Plaza Almendros. (More about all that Kathryn did to make our off Isla adventure work flawless in a later episode).
I would also like to thank all the TSA people that made passing through security a breeze, (both directions), at the Anchorage, Portland, Seattle and Dallas Fort Worth Airports. They were all professional, friendly, patient, and extremely helpful, with a good sense of humor thrown in, during our passing through the security check points.
All the Mexican officials at the Cancun Airport were equally helpful, friendly, and patient with our large entourage.
