The Jones Gang, aka hogfamily, Isla de la Mujeres Adventures # 14.
The beach near the Avalon Bridge. It is a great beach for kids, nice sand, not too deep, good snorkeling, great tide pooling. Take water shoes for the tide pools.
Sea glass stuck on a rock. Michelle tried to get it off the rock, when she couldn’t she wanted to bring the rock home, I had to say no, it weighed about 50 pounds.
Dinner at La Lomita, (another first for us).
The food is excellent, inexpensive, the bean soup is awesome, and the staff is wonderful!
YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE BEAN SOUP!
The next day we had to visit Dr. Salas, four of the hoglets ended up with “swimmer’s ear" throughout our stay.
Dr Salas is professional, caring, and wonderful with kids, has a great sense of humor and is a great doctor; I wish he was our doctor all the time….hum….that would mean that we would have to live on Isla….hummm…….
We also got to know this local pharmacy staff quite well. They were always helpful and patient with us.
Ileana, the new owner of Cool Ice Cream, made the hogfamily a home made spaghetti dinner. We were joined by Raquel, and her family. We had a great time and the dinner was excellent.
This is Jito; he makes and sells some really nice jewelry.
Jito explaining the power of the crystal that is in the necklace that Joseph just had to have. It is a really nice hand braided necklace with a beautiful crystal. Joseph wears it every day.
We really like the paintings on Hotel Las Palmas.
One of our favorite markets to get fresh fruit and veggies.
Seaweed that was left on the beach after a storm.
Another great day at the beach by the Avalon Bridge.
Another stop at Cool Ice Cream for a treat.
The next day we went to the Colonia Guadalupana Beach.
While waiting for Sr. Plu to take us to the beach we hung out with Sergio.
Sergio is having a difficult time because of the decrease in tourist and he says that people are not buying his Batiks and jewelry as much as before. He makes some beautiful Batiks. Stop by, check them out, and get one or two.
We stopped at Casa Porlamar and met Larry and Raisa, (the owners of Casa Porlamar), before we go to the beach.
Turtle tracks on the beach.
Another great day at the beach.
Saying goodbye to our neighbors at Plaza Almendros that are from France.
The Adventures continue…….
