Isla 2011 - Day 4

Tuesday morning we are back to French Bistro for breakfast. Butch and Joe get their favorite French toast, Kay decides on the western omelet, and I get the mushroom/cheese/onion omelet and we each get a side of bacon.
We then go back to the hotel and hang out for a little while. Afterwards, we all cruise around on the golf cart. Butch and Kay were not able to make it down to Isla in 2010 and they wanted to reacquaint themselves with the island and see the changes that took place over the 2 year span. We drive by a goose in someone’s front yard and cannot resist taking a picture.

While we’re on the south side of the island, we decide it might be a good day to try the infamous tix n’ chix for a snack. We swing into La Casa Tix n’ Chix (Playa Loncheros) and place one order to share between the four of us. While waiting for the fish to cook, we split an order of chips with pico de gallo and guacamole. Just before the fish came, I went into the bathroom and discover really cool conch shell water faucets and a unique wash station.

The seasoning they use is killer! However, the fish used for tix n’ chix has both white and dark meat and none of us really cared for the dark meat portion. I am not sure if any of us would get it again, but it is now crossed off the “to do” list. We now have really full bellies and decide that a siesta is in order, so we head back to hotel to relax for a while.

After siestas, showers, etc, we head into town to spend some time at Brisa Mexicana. While people watching on Hidalgo, we discuss plans for dinner. It is decided that tonight we will try La Bruja in La Gloria. We have heard so many great things about this restaurant and cannot wait to give it a try. So, we pile into the golf cart and head to over. It is located up the hill from the church and women’s bead co-op and just before the new playground. Butch orders the pork fajitas, Kay tries the garlic butter grouper, Joe gets the breaded grouper, and I get the enchiladas suizas. Everything is delicious! Roberto is a very friendly owner, the food is excellent and the prices are awesome. We are definitely adding this restaurant to our list of favorites and it is worth the trek out there.

After dinner, we stop back to Brisa Mexicana to hang out and have more 2 x 1’s. We end day 4 with another stop for Bimbo dogs, the White Castle of Mexico!!
